Happy 88 Birthday....

Today is my Grandfather's 88 birthday and this card is made for him...

When I saw these two stamp sets Thoughts of Father and For Father I knew I had to have them both. They remind me alot of both my grandfather and my dad. So I will be making my father's day card with them but first I needed a birthday card for my grandfather.

While I was growing up my grandfather was farming. He was a big farmer when my mother was growing up but as I came along he was slowing down a bit but it was enough for me to still remember his farming. It is amazing to know how much he provided by farming. Today he still has his lands but rents them out to other farmers. He is retired and to me he doesn't look his age. He is just started in the last few years to get the gray hair.

His farming and knowing how hard he worked is why I chose the two images on the card... The apples with the work gloves and the puppy with the work boots. I colored the apples with both my prisma pencils and gamsol and then took a few of my stampin write markers to it to make it pop some... however I think the image really pops because of the crystal effects I added to the apples... The dimension is just beautiful on this card.

On the inside I had to add this image and I colored him in with my prisma pencils and gamsol again. I love the look of this little puppy. It just calls out to me of hard work and the rewards to that hard work. Well tonight we have a large family gathering for my grandfather. So I'm off to get as much done as I can and hope to have a card ready for tomorrow this afternoon... Have a great day.

Supplies:
Stamps: Thoughts of Father, For Father, warmest regards
Cardstock: Very vanilla, real red
Ink: stazon jet black
Accessories: prisma color pencils, stampin write markers, aquapainter, crystal effects, gamsol
