Stained glass and Beate's weekend challenge...

I happened to be blog hoppin some and came upon Beate Johns' weekend challenge and I thought it looked like so much fun and I had to try it... Her Challenge can be found here on her blog

Here is my entry for this weekends challenge. I also have been wanting to try and do the stained glass technique with Holy Triptych. Hope you like...

Here is a close up of the Holy Triptych image using stained glass technique. To do this technique all you need is some silver(any color I just used silver today) embossing powder and vellum cardstock. After embossing the image color the back with markers. I love the way this one turned out.

Stamp sets: holy triptych, baroque motifs, leaves a la carte
Cardstock: blue bayou, wintergreen designer paper, cardstock vellum, whisper white cardstock, basic black cardstock
Ink: blue bayou, versa mark
Accessories: silver ep, brads, markers, some glaze pens for the yellow and white(don't have the markers in these colors yet)

Casing for a Thank You...

Let me start this post with the meaning of the word CASE for a stamper.... Copy, And, Share, Everything. But with proper notation of the designer.

So here is my case of a beautiful card done by Arlene Mantle on SCS. You can click on her name to go to her beautiful card.

I changed my embossing to silver because I am just a silver kind of girl. I did change a few stamps too. I used my leaves a la carte wheel, and my whirly twirly wheel along with my silver encore ink pad and silver embossing powder. I watercolored my angel using my blue bayou ink pad and my watercolor crayons and an aquapainter.

For cardstock I used soft sky, blue bayou, basic black, some scrap designer paper, and watercolor paper. Stamp sets used were Holy Triptych, aida cloth BG, and two wheels.

I also used star dust stickles on my angel's wings. This card is so much prettier in real life.

This card is going to my dad to give to his neighbor for all the help he has been giving them lately. He wanted a Thank You card.

Saturday Fun...

Saturday I had company with me to stamp. My mom, my aunt and my friend Kelly all came over and got some Christmas card ideas and technique ideas. I think they had a great time. We got to play with my heat gun and my faux metal technique. And we got to play with the Holy Triptych set from the holiday mini. Here were some card ideas I gave them that day....

Supplies for these cards can be found Here.

For the Holy Triptych cards I let them choose the image to play with the sketch... They all pick the angel and I made these two. I enjoyed the day and had a great time. It is always fun stamping with friends.

Spotlighting...

Tonight I decided to try my hand at the spotlight technique. Picking of course my new set from the holiday min from Stampin Up Holy Triptych.
Supplies for this card can be found here.

I wanted to spotlight baby Jesus in this card. So I stamped the image twice and colored one with my watercolor crayons and my aquapainter. Then I took my 1.25 circle punch and punched out the baby Jesus out then took my 1 3/8 circle punch to punch out a circle from a piece of scrap brushed silver cardstock. Then I lined the circles up to the uncolored image.

I am happy with it but it was hard to find the perfect sentiment to fit the card. I took the sentiment from a retired stamp set called Peace Be unto You. I am still not quite happy but i know I will find the perfect sentiment for this here soon. I think this would make a perfect Christmas card for someone this year. Well off to bed I go so I can get the kids off to school in the morning have a great night.

A chance to stamp...

I haven't had much stampin time until today... And guess what the UPS man came today with a package... Yesterday I got a package too so I really can't wait til I get home tonight from choir but I just had to play with one of them today. I got the Holy Triptych set from Stampin Up's Holiday mini. Here is my first card made from it... I am happy with the image but the sentiment is not right. It is the saying I want but I need to figure a way to get it just right. It isn't a stamp it was printed from the computer... the sentiment of course.

Supplies: Piece of acetate, pealescent chalks, pearlex, hairspray, gold embossing powder, versamark inkpad, gold brads, small rhinestones, and small pearl, bravo burgundy texture cs and regular, basic black cs, and whisper white cs

Here's a close up of the wise men... aren't they nice.

Will be back later tonight with more fun things...
