Saturday Fun...

Saturday I had company with me to stamp. My mom, my aunt and my friend Kelly all came over and got some Christmas card ideas and technique ideas. I think they had a great time. We got to play with my heat gun and my faux metal technique. And we got to play with the Holy Triptych set from the holiday mini. Here were some card ideas I gave them that day....

For the Holy Triptych cards I let them choose the image to play with the sketch... They all pick the angel and I made these two. I enjoyed the day and had a great time. It is always fun stamping with friends.

Today I have been working on my monthly swap card I have to turn in in a couple of weeks and the challenge was to use one of the new Christmas sets out of either the big catty or one out of the holiday mini... well I haven't been able to order out of the holiday mini as of yet so I went with Sleigh bells Ring out of the fall and winter catty....



This swap group is supposed to be upscale so I through in two different techniques on my card. I used my faux metal tutorial and dazzling diamonds. The dazzling diamonds is hard to tell in this picture so I took one more inside and hope it would show up...



Supplies: Sleigh bells ring stamp set, party punch stamp set, buckaroo blue cardstock, soft sky textured cardstock, wintermint designer paper, whisper white cardstock, white taffeta ribbon, iridescent ice embossing powder, silver embossing powder.

Well I have to get to work and finish cranking out 12 of these babies... off I go to get this swap done. Have a great afternoon...

Supplies: wintermint designer series paper, wild wasabi textured cardstock, always artichoke textured cardstock, garden green cardstock, watercolor paper, crystal effects, watercolor crayons, black stazon pad, rose red clasic inkpad, versamark pad, silver embossing powder, give thanks stamp set, riveting stamp set, silver brad, whisper white taffeta ribbon, circle punches

I had fun with this one and plan on sending it off in the mail within the next few days to a special friend... hope everyone has a nice afternoon.

Faux Metal Tutorial....

This is my first time writing my own tutorial but after posting my faux metal post I felt that their might be a few people that come to my blog and would not know what exactly I am talking about so here goes.....


First off you will need the following in supplies:
A versaMark pad, a heat gun, Silver embossing powder( gold or bronze may be used also), a piece of scrap cardstock( this is a great way to get rid of those extra pieces laying around), a shape punch( the one I am using is Stampin Up's designer label punch), a stamp image.




1.
Place cardstock into the versa mark....

Press firmly into the pad so that you cover the entire piece with versamark.

2. next you want to grab a piece of printer paper or a powder pal. Place cardstock piece versamark side facing up on your paper or powder pal.

Cover it with embossing powder. Tap off excess powder onto paper or powder pal.

It should look like this once you have taped off the powder.

3. grab your heat gun and begin to heat up the paper....

It will start to look like this... and after it has all melt it will look like this...


4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get a piece that should look like this....


5. Take your stamp and press it into the versamark pad to keep it from sticking to the paper....

While your paper is still hot... If it has cooled take your heat gun and heat it up for a few... take your inked up stamp and press it into the paper. When you lift up you will have a image somewhat like this...


6. Take your shape cutter and place your faux metal into it. Line it up so you can see the image.

And then punch your image out. It should look like this...


7. Place on your desired project...

Supplies for card: Buckaroo blue ink, soft sky ink, versa mark, Blue Bayou textured cardstock, whisper white cardstock, whisper white taffeta ribbon, silver embossing powder, party punch stamp set, soft swirls BG, Sliegh Bells Ring stamp set, Aida Cloth BG.

Faux Metal....

I got my new stamps and stuff today and had this idea in my head to try with the new level 1 hostess set Party Punch. It is called faux metal.

I will be making more of these cards for Christmas this year.

Supplies:Buckaroo blue cardstock, whisper white cardstock, buckaroo blue in color ink 07, versamark ink, silver embossing powder, party punch hostess set, Sleigh Bells Ring set, floral Background stamp

This card turned out prettier than I though it would. Faux metal was one of the techniques that Stampin Up showed us at regionals in April and I have not been brave enough to try it until today. It is really an easy technique. Have a great afternoon and I might be back with more latter you never know.
